Advanced Overlay Systems specializes in decorative concrete overlays, helping individuals and businesses beautify, strengthen and restore their existing concrete. They wanted a web site that would really show off the work they do so it needed to be eye catching, but still present informative content in a clear and readable way.
Site Features
- Homepage Image Rotator: We needed something right on the front page to grab the visitors attention towards the beautiful work AOS does. The image rotator looks like "Flash" but in fact it is all done in Javascript. This makes the rotatorĀ easy enough to update and maintain, that if they wanted to AOS could change out the images themselves.
- Contact Us Form: A lot of web sites will simply provide an email address to contact them with. However at ['High Wired'] Web Development we know that users are more likely to send an email if they can just type it into a form on the site. An email will be sent by the web site to AOS with the information the user entered into the form. Another reason why this is so important is because "spam bots" will scour thousands of web sites looking for email addresses in the pages and once they know your email address the floodgates will open with unsolicited junk email. A contact form greatly reduces this possibility because your email is never revealed in the web pages, but rather kept secure on your web server where the public cannot reach.
- Image Gallery: The AOS portfolio is HUGE! They have hundreds of before and after photos showing off their work. This would be a near impossible task without the help of an online application to manage their photos for them. All AOS has to do is upload a photo, choose the category and input any caption text they want. The images will automatically be resized and placed on the web site for all to see. It's fast, powerful and simple to use.
- Javascript Menus: The main menu and Featured Projects menu are topped off with some Javascript to bring life to the site. The highlighting effects and "accordion" function of the Featured Projects menu could have been done with Flash, however that would make the information impossible for search engines to index and make the menus a lot tougher to update.
